SkyWatcher Explorer 150PL 6" Parabolic Telescope + EQ3-2 Bundle KIT #10949+20448
The Sky-Watcher EXPLORER-150PL is a fantastic choice for intermediate astronomers and also the serious beginner. Has a large 150mm of light gathering aperture combined with superb parabolic optics. With a longer focal length of f/8 this telescope provides higher magnification with a given eyepiece than its f/5 cousin, the Explorer-150P. Delivers excellent performance for the observation of the Moon, planets, nebulae, galaxies, star clusters and tight double-stars. PARABOLIC PRIMARY MIRRORS SKY-WATCHER DELUXE MIRROR COATINGS SkyWatcher EQ3-2 Deluxe Equatorial Tripod & Mount #20448 The superb EQ3-2 mount receives high marks from experienced observers. This sturdy mount offers precision and stability along with a host of other features for the serious astronomer. The mount rests firmly on a large, adjustable aluminium tripod with accessory tray. A bubble level allows for quick and accurate levelling. Slow-motion control knobs allow for continuous manual tracking of celestial objects. The precision mount features full 360º worm-gear tracking controls on both R.A. and DEC. axes. Dual metal setting circle dials allow quick location of target using celestial coordinates. An optional polarscope is available for aiding in polar alignment. Optional single-axis and dual-axis D.C. motor drives can be installed for auto-tracking purposes. Features High Quality Parabolic Primary Mirrors to eliminate spherical aberrations inherent in 'fast' focal lengh reflectors with spherical primary mirrors. The mirrors are parabolized to bring all the light rays to the same focal point to give sharp, constrasty images, which are full of detail.
Most reflectors today usually have a coat of aluminium as the mirror surface and then an overcoat of silicon monoxide or silicon dioxide to protect it. Silicon dioxide produces a much more durable coat than silicon monoxide but requires specialized equipment to apply it and is therefore more expensive. Protection is needed, because in most reflectors, the mirror is open to the elements and deterioration of the reflective layer reduces the resolution of the telescope. ALL Sky-Watcher reflectors are Multi-Coated with Silicon Dioxide as standard for Optimum Durability and Long Term Performance.
