The 82SV's a great choice if you want the very best in optics from a respected Japanese company without forking over an arm and a leg to get it.

The TSN-82SV was created using advanced optical technology and the best of materials known. Its 82mm objective lens gathers lots of light, ensuring a bright field of view in nearly any practical nature viewing. It also makes for a great casual-use astronomical scope.

The 82SV is offered exclusively as an angled viewing design. While it isn't a matter entirely settled until you experience the differences for yourself, it is nearly a universal belief that the angled scopes offer a more comfortable time of longer glassing, and are unequivocally easier to share among a group of observers. You can also get away with a shorter tripod using the angled scope, perhaps shaving precious ounces off your pack weight. Angled scopes do require a bit more experience at locating the subject; if you're tall and equipped with a tall tripod and primarily viewing alone, a straight viewing scope is often preferred.

Kowa's TE-9Z 20-63x Zoom Spotting Scope Eyepiece is compatible with TSN-82SV series spotting scopes to provide a wide magnification range that will satisfy most of your observational needs. Using a simple bayonet mount, it installs easily, and the knurled dial makes changing the zoom quick and sure. The TE-9Z features a wide apparent field of view – 40-126° with the 82mm scope – and a 16.5mm eye relief value for comfortable glassing, even with eyewear.

The Stay-On Carrying Case from Kowa is a protective accessory for the TSN-82SV Angled Spotting Scope. A full-length zippered closure and a hook-and-loop secured flap provide access to the eyepiece and the tripod mounting socket. An additional zipper around the front of the scope case provides access to the objective lens and protects it from moisture, dust and dirt.

Included with the stay-on case is a removable, length-adjustable shoulder strap. A quick-attach clasp at the rear of the case and a D-ring attachment point make this accessory easy to clip to a day pack or center post of a tripod when removed from the spotting scope.
